The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said Saturday morning that a man has been arrested in the fatal hit-and-run of a cyclist from York County.

Alexander Michael Crosby, 25, of Barhamsville in New Kent County was arrested Friday night by investigators, a news release said. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

He was transported to the Henrico Jail East, the release said.

Brian Utne, 50, was killed on Oct. 25 after he was struck and killed near the corner of Yorkville Road and Lakeside Drive after he finished a group ride.

After he was struck, he was taken to Riverside Regional Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

State police investigated Utne’s death, releasing a vehicle description of the gray Ford truck which fled the scene.

The release from the sheriff’s office did not say how Crosby or his car were identified.

Utne’s death spurred an outpouring of support from the local biking community. Hundreds rode in a memorial bike ride in his honor on Nov. 3.
