A man was found dead in a car outside a shopping center in York County Friday evening, in what investigators believe to be a suicide.

The call came in about 6:15 p.m. about an incident in the parking lot of the Marquis Shopping Center, in front of the Dick’s Sporting Goods store.

That’s off of Route 199, near Water Country USA.

“All indications are that it was self-inflicted, based on the investigation and the evidence found at the scene,” said Capt. Troy Lyons, of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

Lyons said he did not have the man’s age or hometown, and said he did not believe investigators had positively confirmed the man’s identity. The State Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.
