The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is trying to find the owner of a dog that was struck by a vehicle in Williamsburg Wednesday morning.

The dog, a female, was hit in the area of Penniman Road and Custis Drive, sheriff’s office officials said on Facebook.

The driver immediately called 911, and the responding sheriff’s office deputy took the dog to an emergency vet on Route 17 where she is being treated, officials said.

Animal control will take the dog to a Williamsburg area animal shelter, when she is healed and ready to be released, the post states.
