Slippery commute, scattered snow showers Thursday morning; warmer weather ahead

There are reports of snow falling in Newport News, Gloucester and Isle of Wight County. Travel with caution.

The National Weather Service has issued a statement encouraging motorists to slow down since icy spots may be present.

Little to no accumulation is expected.

The forecast calls for a high of about 40 degrees Thursday and a low of 33 overnight.

Looking ahead, sunny skies and dry weather are expected for the start of the weekend. High temperatures in the 40s are likely Friday and Saturday and into the 50s on Sunday. There is a chance for rain Saturday night and Sunday.
