Boy Scout Andrew R. Lemmon of Williamsburg recently completed his Eagle service project at the Williamsburg Parent Cooperative Preschool located at Saint Martin's Episcopal Church on Jamestown Road. Lemmon's project was to build a learning garden for the preschool. The project included building six raised garden beds for each preschool class, building a brick patio and raising a wooden pergola for the patio. The learning garden is a part of the curriculum that teaches the preschoolers the annual growing cycle of a bountiful garden. Lemmon designed the learning garden with input from the preschool director and board to complement the preschool's philosophy of enabling children to learn independently through exploration and discovery. Lemmon is a Life Scout with Troop 242 in Newport News and is a rising senior at Jamestown High School.
