Police: No injuries in plane crash at Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport

Staff writer

There were no injuries Saturday evening when a Yorktown man crashed his plane at the Williamsburg-Jamestown County Airport.

Around 5:30 p.m., Benjamin Fye inadvertently crashed his 1964 Cherokee PA 128-40 plane while on approach to the runway, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Michelle Anaya.

Fye’s approach to the runway was too high and both he and his plane landed in an embankment off the runway, Anaya wrote in an email. Fye was not injured in the crash.

State police responded to the airport, and the Federal Aviation Administration was contacted about “minor” crash, according to Anaya.

The incident remains under investigation.

This is an ongoing story. More information will be published as it becomes available.
