Edgeworth Park at New Town wins Best Of Awards

Special to the Gazette

As Edgeworth Park at New Town gears up for its one-year anniversary in February, the Assisted Living and Memory Care establishment is also celebrating wins in the categories of Best Assisted Living and Best New Business in The Virginia Gazette’s Best of Williamsburg Awards.

Edgeworth Park, which opened in February 2017, has 83 apartments, 70 percent of which are already occupied by individuals who require daily medical assistance. Residents range in age from their mid-50s to older than 100.

“We are pleased with how well we are exceeding expectations,” executive director Qudsia Chaudhary said. “I think what makes us different from others is truly our staff. That is the absolute key to our success. We hear all the time from families how our staff genuinely cares for the people here. It’s bringing hospitality and healthcare together. It’s that Southern hospitality that sets us apart.”

Edgeworth Park’s amenities include housekeeping and laundry services; transportation; activities such as bingo and board games, book club, gardening, walking club and exercise classes, and movie nights; three meals a day, including snacks; and 24-hour nursing services. A staff of 80 — including eight team leaders with a combined 126 years of experience — help make the residents as welcome and comfortable as possible.

“We are very humbled and very appreciative,” Chaudhary said of earning top honors in the Best of Williamsburg contest. “It’s a recognition of all the staff and their hard work every day.”

Chaudhary hopes to see Edgeworth Park continue to grow. A Phase II building expansion is planned for 2018.

“It’s nice to be so well-received from the community, especially New Town,” she said. “Everyone’s been so very gracious and welcoming.”
