VDOT: Expect residual backups following I-64 east car fire in York County

Traffic on Interstate 64 east is still backed up for about 3.5 miles following an early morning car fire Tuesday, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

VDOT said the incident is clear, but drivers can expect residual backups.

A car fire on Interstate 64 east near exit 243 at Busch Gardens is blocking traffic Tuesday morning, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Traffic is backed up for 3.5 miles as of 8:10 a.m., and a detour is in place at exit 243A, VDOT said.

On I-64 west from mile marker 243 to 242, and at mile marker 234 in York County, VDOT said drivers should expect delays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday due to roadside maintenance, with the right shoulder being a mobile closure.
