After World War II, statues of Hitler and Mussolini were taken down. Soon after the death of Stalin, his statues came down. Well, it's been more than 150 years since the end of our Civil War and the hoped-for end of slavery.
The removal of statues of Davis, Lee, Jackson, etc., is long overdue. How about replacing them with true American heroes like Frederick Douglas and Rosa Parks?
Slavery didn't end in the United States with the Emancipation Proclamation of January 1863 and not with the 13th Amendment of December 1865. It ended in about 1940. I invite you to read "Slavery by Another Name" by Douglas Blackmon.
