What kind of fools does Cox Communications think we are? Around 1990 the FCC ruled that phone and cable companies could not charge per phone or TV. Their delivery ended at the home, what the resident did with that signal from there was their right. The phone and Cable TV companies did not like this.

It would appear Cox has bamboozled the commission into somehow believing we the consumers need a “box” per TV to get digital TV. So now they are going to require a special box to get HD on all channels. But wait — all signals today are in HD, all new TVs are HD — so why the box? Very simple reason: more money. That “box” is not required for any HDTV to receive digital signals, they have just found a way around the 1990 FCC ruling.

I for one would hope the officials at Cox and the government that is supposed to protect us will stop this nonsense. Cox touts the “extras” you get with the box, but its more stuff I don’t need or want. All I want is a signal so I can watch TV.

It looks like I may be going to over the air soon — just go to Hulu, Netflix, Amazon or another outlet and watch what I want, and for one monthly fee I can use it on any smart TV. It may be time to cancel Cox and find a new way to get TV.
