The following closings, cancellations and delays have been announced for this weekend in Williamsburg, James City and York due to Hurricane Florence.
Colonial Williamsburg has canceled or relocated some outdoor programs this weekend. Friends Divided: A Revolutionary in Residence Conversation with Gordon Wood scheduled for Saturday in the Hennage Auditorium has been canceled. The Constitution Day concert, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled.
William and Mary will reopen on Monday on a normal schedule. Residence halls will open noon Sunday, according to the William and Mary website. All weekend events and activities are canceled. The football game scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.
Williamsburg Area Transit Authority bus routes will operate until 11 p.m., except for Route 8, which will run 2-8 p.m. Sunday. There won’t be service on the Surry route until further notice, according to the authority.
The Williamsburg Farmers Market is canceled Saturday.
Housing Partnerships’ eighth annual PIPE concert in Williamsburg, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at the same venue. Tickets for Sept. 15 will still be honored.
The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry is operating with two boats Saturday morning, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Complete suspension of ferry service is possible during high tides 4-5 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. on Saturday.
Busch Gardens is closed Saturday. Busch Gardens will open Sunday. Howl-O-Scream will begin at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, though the opening of haunted houses has been delayed due to storm preparation.
Jamestown Island is closed until further notice.
Thomas Nelson will remain closed through Sunday. Essential personnel should report as advised by supervisors.
The Bacon Street Youth and Family Services Earl “Tuggy” Young Golf Tournament scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled for Oct. 28. For more information visit baconstreet.org.
Jolly Pond Road at the dam is closed to traffic.
Electric service at the bulkhead/shoreline at James City County Marina is disconnected and will remain disconnected until Monday. Fuel services and electrical outlets won’t be available to boaters. The marina store operates on normal schedule and all other marina services and equipment rentals are available.
The Chickahominy Riverfront Park fishing pier is closed until further notice.
GoApe at Freedom Park is closed Saturday and Sunday.
Historic Jamestowne has canceled all programs Saturday and Sunday.
Harvest Festival scheduled for Saturday is canceled and won’t be rescheduled.
York County Public Schools will open schools and offices on a normal schedule Monday. Monday will be a B day for secondary schools, according to a school division tweet.
Saturday’s Market Days is canceled.
Yorktown Battlefield is closed until further notice.
York County has closed its shelter at Tabb High School and has consolidated shelter operations with the state-run facility at Christopher Newport University’s Freeman Center, 1 University Place.
Boats, RVs and trailers parked in York public and school lots must be moved by 5 p.m. Sunday.
