Fire officials: Christmas day fire displaces 9 in James City

A Christmas day fire in a James City County neighborhood displaced nine people.

On Tuesday at 5:05 p.m., the James City County Fire Department was called to a home fire in the 3100 block of Parkside Lane in Governor’s Land, according to a James City County news release. The Williamsburg Fire Department provided mutual assistance.

When fire crews arrived at the home, smoke and fire were visible from the garage of the home, the release stated.

Nine members of a family were in the home at the time of the fire and escaped the blaze, according to the release. There were no injuries.

The family made arrangements to stay with friends for the night, the release stated.

County fire marshals are investigating the blaze, according to the release.
