9-hole golf tournament to raise money for homeless veterans

Staff writer

A charity 9-hole golf tournament will be hosted by Aid Our Veterans and High Definition Golf March 2 and 3 at Revolution Golf and Grille. All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the group’s efforts to help homeless veterans.

“More than one in 10 homeless adults in America is a veteran,” said Robert Corson, one of the event organizers with Aid Our Veterans. “Even one of the soldiers who served our country living on the streets is a disgrace, and we need to do something about it.”

There will be $1,000 awarded to the winning team, $800 for second place and $400 for third. An additional $1,000 will be awarded to the first person to sink a hole-in-one. All of the prize money was gifted by a corporate donor.

There also will be a silent auction, which has items donated by several businesses and stores throughout the Williamsburg area, from AMF Bowling to Harris Teeter, that anybody is allowed to come and bid on.

To register, call Revolution Golf and Grille at 757-645-4711. Green fees are $100 per team of two. Tee times are at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
