'Keep an eye on' Hurricane Florence as it continues toward East Coast

A National Weather Service meteorologist wants local residents to keep an eye on Hurricane Florence.

Mike Dutter, a meteorologist at the NWS office in Wakefield said the hurricane is expected to continue its march toward the eastern seaboard of the United States.

“You should already have your hurricane plan in place,” Dutter said of emergency evacuation precautions. “It’s never a bad time to have a plan.”

Dutter said residents should watch forecasts for Florence as there’s “no way to tell how close it’s going to make it to the east coast.”

More information on the track of the hurricane should be available Sunday night and Monday morning, Dutter said.
