New James Blair principal to attend PTSA, meet with parents

Staff writer

Earlier this month, Williamsburg-James City County Schools announced that Dr. Corey Murphy would take over as acting principal at James Blair Middle School. Now Murphy has reached out to parents and is asking parents to reach out to him.

In a letter sent to parents of James Blair students, Murphy introduced himself, shared his experience as a military officer and an educator in South Carolina, and his goals for the school now that he is in charge.

“While I am still assessing where we are and our path ahead, I can say that I have been extremely impressed with the skill and professionalism of our faculty and staff as well as the enthusiasm and potential of our students,” said Murphy. “I plan to leverage these strengths to move the school forward and reaffirm the trust you have placed in us to provide your children with a safe and orderly learning environment.”

Murphy went on to say he would be a regular presence at future meetings of the James Blair PTSA and encourages anyone with questions or concerns to speak with him there.

The next meeting of the James Blair PTSA Council is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the school.
