Discounts available for parks and recreation programs

Qualified area residents can take advantage of a James City County Parks and Recreation program that provides discounts on facility access and program enrollment.

Discounts apply to the department’s before-and-after school program as well as annual passes to James City County Recreation Center and the Abram Frink Jr Community Center among other offerings. Some programs at Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex and the city’s Quarterpath Park facility also have discounts available, according to a James City County news release.

The program is open to both James City and Williamsburg residents who meet the requirements and submit an application. Discounts are determined based on the annual gross income and number of people in a household. Residents who qualify for the Social Service food stamp program and have an income are automatically eligible, the release states.

Applications and documentation can be submitted at the James City County Recreation Center (5301 Longhill Road), the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center (8901 Pocahontas Trail) or by mail at James City County Parks and Recreation, Discount Assistance Program, 5320 Palmer Lane, Suite 2A, Williamsburg, VA 23188.

Applications may take 10 to 14 days to process. Households may submit only one application.

Applications can be downloaded at For more information about the program, call 757-259-4200 or email
