The county Development Review Committee will hear a request for affordable apartments on Richmond Road at its Wednesday evening meeting.
The proposed development, at 7581 Richmond Road, would include five three-story apartment buildings with a total of 126 units and a clubhouse.
AES Consulting Engineers, the applicant, is proposing to build where there is currently a house and a barn, according to county documents.
The application would still have to pass through the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.
The county is also putting together a task force to address the need for affordable and workforce housing, per a recommendation from a 2016 housing study done by the county.
Planning Director Paul Holt said the county received 48 applications for the group and hopes to announce the members of the task force in the coming weeks.
Holt said the task force will include 14-16 people.
Holt said the first meeting would be tentatively scheduled for December before the holidays.
