After the College of William and Mary men’s soccer team’s stellar 2017 season, the team did not make the top 25 of national rankings in 2018.

The men’s soccer team received two votes for national ranking in the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Division I Preseason National Rankings released Aug. 7, according to William and Mary sports information director Kris Sears.

The team ended the 2017 season with a 7-0-3 unbeaten stretch — the longest since an 18 game undefeated stretch in 1996, according to a College of William and Mary news release.

The 2018 season brings a loaded schedule with games against North Carolina, the third-ranked soccer team nationally, before the team faces off against Coastal Carolina, the 18th-ranked team.

The 26-man team is headed by 13-year veteran head coach Chris Norris, according to the Tribe Athletics website.

Coach Norris has spent 26 seasons with Tribe, guiding the team to the NCAA Tournament three times as head coach, the website said.

The team has had seven winning seasons in the last 10 years under Norris’ direction.

Eight starters return from the championship 2017 squad, and eight of the teams top nine scoring players are set to take to the field this season.

“From that standpoint, the prospects for them are quite high,” Sears said.

Season tickets for the men’s soccer season went on sale on July 3.

The eight home-game schedule includes out-of-conference play with Atlantic Coast Conference champion and College Cup semi-finalist North Carolina, as well as Sun Belt champion and NCAA Tournament team Coastal Carolina, the release said.

Colonial Athletic Association rival James Madison will play the Tribe at Martin Family Stadium in Williamsburg later in the season.

Season tickets cost $45 for adults, $40 for college faculty, staff, seniors, and military, and tickets for children ages 2-12 cost $30.

Single game tickets went on sale July 24. Tickets cost $6 for adults, $5 for college faculty, staff, seniors and military, and tickets for children ages 2-12 cost $3.

Premium single-game tickets versus North Carolina cost $10 for adults, $8 for college faculty, staff, seniors, and military, and tickets cost $5 for children ages 2-12.
