York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office investigating Merrimac Trail shooting

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports of a gunfight along Merrimac Trail shortly after midnight Saturday morning.

At approximately 12:10 a.m., YPSO deputies received a third-party report of gunshots in the parking lot of 455 Merrimac Trail in upper York County, according to a police news release.

The address is the former site of a Farm Fresh grocery store, which was shuttered in October 2017 according to a past Virginia Gazette report.

A short time after deputies received those initial reports, a 24-year-old white man and 19-year-old black man arrived at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds. Their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

Preliminary investigations revealed there was an altercation in the parking lot between several people and multiple shots were fired, according to the release. No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.
