Pictures: Carter's Grove Plantation

Carter's Grove Plantation in James City County is scheduled to go on the auction block May 21. The home was finished in 1755, and the grounds were home to a 17th century settlement in which settlers were murdered during an uprising by Indians. Colonial Williamsburg, which acquired the plantation in 1969, sold it in 2007, but foreclosed on it four years later for payments that were not made.
