There are two elections in greater Williamsburg Tuesday, but voters will have to decide which they want to vote in.
Democratic voters will be choosing a candidate to fill the 1st State Senate District seat vacated by the untimely death of Sen. John Miller, D-Newport News. The candidates for the Democratic nomination are Del. Monty Miller, D-Williamsburg, and Shelly Simonds, of Newport News.
The 1st Senate District includes Williamsburg and portions of James City County, York County, Newport News, Hampton and Suffolk.
In the 2nd Congressional District, where court-ordered redistricting has deposited greater Williamsburg after years in the 1st Congressional District, three candidates are seeking the Republican nomination.
Incumbent Rep. Randy Forbes, R-4th, is attempting to change districts after his old district was redistricting to be much more friendly to a Democratic candidate. He is being opposed by Del. Scott Taylor, R-Virginia Beach, and Pat Cardwell IV.
Voters will have to specify if they want the Democratic or Republican primary ballot and will be unable to vote for each office.
The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
