Staff Writer

A James City County woman has been criminally charged after police say she stole belongings and damaged a family’s property while the family was on vacation.

Sherrye Lynn McGregor-Lugo, 62, was charged with grand larceny and destruction of property, according to Williamsburg Police Department spokesman Maj. Greg Riley.

On Aug. 30, a victim walked into the police department to file a report that someone entered his or her family’s home while they were on vacation and stole and destroyed the family’s belongings, Riley said.

The victim’s home is in the 100 block of Parkway Court in the city, according to Riley.

After a three-month-long investigation, the investigating officer charged McGregor-Lugo on Nov. 26 with the crime, Riley said.

McGregor-Lugo was served arrest warrants Tuesday afternoon, according to Riley.
