The Colonial Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking candidates to run in its election to select a district director.
A district director assesses local conservation needs and develops conservation programs to address those needs. Directors are volunteers and do not receive compensation.
Candidates must file with their local registrar by 7 p.m. June 11. Would-be candidates need to submit a certificate of candidate qualification, a declaration of candidacy form and a petition of qualified voters with 25 signatures.
The general election will be held Nov. 5. Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Virginia resident for at least one year prior to the election.
- Be a resident of the locality in which you are seeking office.
- Be registered to vote in the locality in which you are seeking office.
