The King and Queen County School Board announced an extension to the superintendent's contract at its meeting Wednesday.

Superintendent Carol Carter’s new four-year term will begin July 1.

“The board has been very pleased with the progress our school district has made under Dr. Carter’s leadership,” Harwood Hall said. “We look forward to the stability and continued emphasis on instruction and accreditation that has marked her leadership. We are confident our children will be well served by this decision.”

The board also announced Central High School’s new vice principal, Ashley Reynolds, who is a sixth-grade team leader at Chickahominy Middle School.

“Thank you for already accepting me,” Reynolds said.
