The King William Ruritan Club will celebrate its 80th anniversary of Fish Fry, a fundraising event with vendors, live music and food.
The club expects around 700 people to attend the event on April 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the King William Ruritan Club Building. Van Walker, a member of the Ruritan Club, will perform live. There will also be complimentary beverages, hush puppies, clam chowder and pork skins from 5 to 6 p.m.
The event will feature 21 booths from local businesses and admission costs $25 a person.
“My father was a member for 62 years and I’ve been a member for 39 years. It’s just kind of a tradition,” said Gene Campbell, Fish Fry Planning Committee chairman.
The club was founded in 1938 and has donated more than $450,000 to the community from its fundraising events, such as Fish Fry.
The club donates raised funds to local fire and EMS organizations, law enforcement and the county’s school division for supplies, as well as community charity organizations and sports teams.
