Williamsburg’s best barbecue restaurants and food trucks will go head-to-head in the Williamsburg Pro-Am BBQ Cook Off July 1.

The event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of the Historic Triangle, will take place from 12 to 4 p.m. at Jamestown Beach Event Park as competitors compete for top brisket, pulled pork, barbecue side and grand champion. It’s the first in what the Rotary hopes to make an annual event.

Ticketed guests will judge and receive unlimited samples from eight of the Williamsburg area’s best in barbecue, including Two Drummers Smokehouse, Old City BBQ, Rocco’s Smokehouse, Red, Hot and Blue, Smoke Restaurant, Suck on This BBQ, The Scottish Pig and Whiskey Hill BBQ.

Adults who attend will receive two free beer tickets, featuring craft beer from event beer sponsor Billsburg Brewery.

Backyard barbecuers will have a competition of their own, as they will be able to set up Saturday at the event park and cook their best pulled pork, ribs and chicken for private judging by a select panel of 12 judges for cash prizes. First place receives $250 and a trophy, with second place getting $100. Amateur teams will not be serve their food to the public.

Liz Daley Events! will provide the entertainment.

Tickets are $40 for adults, $10 for children, and amateur team registration costs $100. Proceeds from the event will benefit Rotary Club charities. For more information, go to http://www.historictrianglerotary.org/
