From a Broadway actress, live music and fine dining, the 2019 Virginia Symphony Society’s gala will be a veritable delight for the senses.
On Sunday, April 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Two Rivers Country Club in James City County, the society will kick off its fundraising gala with dinner and old-time Broadway tunes from actress Tiffany Haas with pianist Bart Keubler accompanying, according to a Virginia Symphony Orchestra news release.
Haas, known for her role as Glinda in the Broadway hit Wicked, is a Yorktown native.
Area high school age musicians will play during a cocktail hour. A live auction will feature experiences guests will remember such as a trip to New York City with tickets to Broadway shows, a wine tasting, and a voice lesson with Haas.
The event at Two Rivers Country Club at Governor’s Land will benefit the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and music education programs.
Previous galas have raised over $200,000 that the VSO has used to promote musical experiences throughout the region including local concerts and music education in local schools, according to the release.
The 2019 gala will recognize Patrick McDermott and Bob and Diane Petterson for their contributions to the Virginia Symphony Society and the orchestra.
Tickets for the event are $175 each. They can be purchased online at bit.ly/VSOgala2019 or with a check payable to the Virginia Symphony Society. Note the event’s name in the memo line and include your contact information before you send the check to the Virginia Symphony Society, P.O. Box 102, Williamsburg, VA 23187.
