Williamsburg Inn, Kingsmill Resort among AAA's top hotels in 2019

Staff writer

Williamsburg Inn earned a Five Diamond Rating and Kingsmill Resort nabbed a Four Diamond Rating in AAA’s list of top hotels in 2019.

Five Diamond Rating hotels represent just 0.4 percent of more than 27,000 hotels rated in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. That’s 121 hotels with the top award. There are 1,722 hotels that possess the Four Diamond Rating, according to a AAA news release.

Williamsburg Inn is the only Five Diamond Rating hotel in Hampton Roads. Hotels that earn this distinction “employ experienced, highly qualified staff to provide the custom service their guests expect,” according to AAA.

"After another successful year, we are excited to have maintained the AAA Five Diamond Award at the iconic Williamsburg Inn. This is an honor we are proud to share with our dedicated staff and loyal visitors from around the world. For over 80 years, we have hosted royalty, Presidents and celebrities, however, we are especially fond of the many families that gather every year to create lasting memories,” said Shaun Coleman, executive director sales and marketing at Colonial Williamsburg Resorts, in a statement.

Kingsmill Resort in James City County is also a top hotel — again earning a spot among the Four Diamond Rating hotels in 2019. Williamsburg Inn is likewise a continued presence among the Five Diamond Rating hotels.

"We are honored to have earned AAA's top rating as it reinforces with consumers that Kingsmill's delivers on its promise of exceptional facilities, services and accommodations," Elizabeth Grimes, vice president of marketing at Kingsmill Resort, said in a statement.

“AAA is pleased to recognize the Five Diamond and Four Diamond hotels,” said Georjeane Blumling, vice president of Public Affairs for AAA Tidewater Virginia, in a release. “These establishments dedicate a significant amount of attention to the little extras that help ensure a consistent and memorable guest experience.”

AAA has conducted anonymous in-person inspections of hotels by professionals for more than 80 years. The rating system scores hotels in North America.
