Williamsburg-James City County Schools announced online it will use a portion of the division’s banked time to make up instructional days missed on Dec. 10 and 11.
Banked time is instructional time built into the school calendar that exceeds the required 990 instructional hour minimum.
According to W-JCC’s website, the district said if there are more school closures throughout the year, a combination of banked time and makeup days may be used to make up for the lost instructional time.
The school calendar has already been adjusted twice following hurricanes this fall. Dec. 19 is now a full day of school to make up for time lost during Hurricane Florence.
Students also will attend school on Jan. 24 to make up for Hurricane Michael. However, it is also an early release day for all students.
