Sheriff's Office: York County woman charged with attempted murder, child endangerment

A York County woman was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with attempted murder and four counts of child endangerment after she allegedly tried to kill her husband, according to a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office news release.

Kassie Downs, 35, allegedly fired one shot inside the residence in the area of Big Gap Road and Skimino Road and another outside, and the sheriff’s office said her husband was the victim.

Deputies responded to the incident around 12:48 a.m., according to the release.

Downs has also been charged with reckless handling of a firearm, unlawfully shooting in an occupied building and attempted unlawful wounding.

No one was injured, according to the release.

Downs is currently being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, the release stated.
