Five candidates have thrown their hats in the ring for the York County school board seat vacated by Michael Anderson when he resigned earlier this month.
Anderson, a former college professor elected in 2017 to represent York’s District 2, resigned on Feb. 5, citing increased career responsibilities.
After announcing they would immediately seek a replacement, and were seeking applicants for the seat, the York County School Board has announced that the following individuals have submitted their name for consideration for the appointment: Raven Gethers, Darlene Heinz, Brett Higginbotham, Charles Poston and Talbot N. Vivian
A public hearing has been scheduled for Monday, Feb. 25, during the regularly scheduled board meeting, at 7 p.m. at York Hall. The York school board will receive comments and input from the public regarding the appointment at the meeting.
The eventual appointee will finish the remainder of Anderson’ s term and have the ability to run for election in November.
For questions or additional information regarding the public hearing, please call the School Board Office at 757-898-0310.
