Anderson resigns from York County School Board

Staff Writer

York County School Board member Michael Anderson resigned effective Wednesday. Anderson, a former college professor and U.S. Air Force veteran, was elected to the board in 2017, with improving service to students with disabilities and looking into later school start times both cited as his reasons for running.

He cited increased work responsibilities associated with a recent promotion as the reason for his decision.

James Richardson, chairman of the York County School Board, said the board was sorry to see him go and wished Anderson the best.

“On behalf of the School Board and the school division, I would like to thank Mr. Anderson for his service to District 2 residents, our students and staff and our community,” Richardson said. “All of us on the board wish him well on his future endeavors.

Anderson’s resignation leaves a vacancy on the School Board for District 2, which the board hopes to have filled by the end of the month.
