First 'Calvin and Hobbes' comic ran 30 years ago

The adventures of a boy and his stuffed tiger, Calvin and Hobbes, started 30 years ago today.

It’s been exactly 30 years since the two title characters of Bill Watterson’s comic strip Calvin and Hobbes met in the first strip of the comic published on Nov. 18, 1985.

The popular comic strip ran in newspapers across the country for 10 years and spawned several book collections of the comics.
