Wittman placing party above county

I am disappointed and deeply concerned about the efforts to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act(Obamacare) and replacing it with the American Healthcare Act (Trumpcare) which was recently passed by the House of Representatives.

I have lost respect and trust for Rep. Rob Wittman and the rest of the House Republicans who supported and passed this bill without the benefit of an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.

Their position and view is the AHCA will cost less in premiums, protect Americans with pre-existing conditions, maintain quality care under Medicare, and protect the poor, disabled and elderly. This is simply not true. Also the way the bill was passed lacked due diligence, was undemocratic and irresponsible. It was an effort by the House Republicans to demonstrate their support to the president and party unity.

This should not be surprising since Mr. Wittman has been a strong supporter of the Trump administration. He has not defended the press when it was attacked by the president. He did not express concern over the firing of James Comey for doing his job at the FBI, saying it was the president's prerogative to do so. He has not been outspoken about the Russian involvement in the 2016 election and the threat it poses to our country. Mr. Wittman is not advocating for a transparent government when he does not support legislation to have the president release his income taxes to the country which would reveal potential conflicts of interest.

Mr. Wittman is failing at his job as a representative of our district and country. He is enabling and supporting a president who is attempting a hostile takeover of our government and constitution. We deserve better. As citizens we need to speak out, stay informed, investigate, read and most importantly seek the truth.
