For the past couple of years, we’ve been hearing that tourism in Williamsburg is on the decline. Do you think raising the admission rates for Colonial Williamsburg will help the situation?
People bring their families here to learn our history. Think of what it costs a family of four for tickets, food and lodging to learn about that history. It’s cost prohibitive! They’ll go someplace else.
Take a lesson from the Mariner’s Museum, where they cut admission to $1 — they are making money at your expense. Maybe you should look to cut costs, not increase them. It may not be easy, but it would be cost effective in the long run.
