Thanks to the Jan. 6 “60 Minutes” interview with Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, I now have a clearer understanding of how to evaluate statements made by our political leaders, which may or may not be accurate.
If the president makes such a statement, it’s a lie. If Ocasio-Cortez makes such a statement, she merely made a “clumsy” mistake and needs to “restate” her point. Further, according to her, “a lot of people are more concerned about being precisely, factually and semantically correct than about being morally right.”
Now I am able to determine which of our leaders is lying and which are just clumsily mistaken.
This line of thinking simply reinforces my theory that anyone can go months and even years without sex, but no one goes a single day without a good rationalization.
