Wittman has supported workforce development

Congressman Rob Wittman may be best known for promoting military readiness. Time and again, he has demonstrated his commitment to support and equip the men and women who defend us. This is both vital for our troops and our region’s economy and I commend him for his efforts.

But, his accomplishments are not limited to defense.

As a long-time advocate for educating our workforce to fill high-paying, private-sector jobs, I am pleased with his multiple actions on this issue as well. Wittman’s work to reauthorize the Carl D. Perkins Act significantly expanded federal resources for workforce education, including programs in waterfront economies. He has visited every workforce development center in the district and holds forums to bring private employers and schools together to modernize curriculum leading to high-quality careers. And his legislation has been bipartisan, recently joining Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) to introduce and pass the Maritime Centers of Excellence Act. This legislation advanced community and technical college programs for domestic maritime industry jobs and will help prepare the critical human resources necessary to expand Virginia’s ports. The list goes on.

Wittman has been a calm, yet strong voice for America’s 1st District — and all of Virginia. His accomplishments in Washington have expanded opportunities for all. I’ll be proud to cast my vote for Congressman Rob Wittman on Nov. 6 so that he may continue this good work.
