W-JCC students earning All-State honors recognized

School officials recognized students from Williamsburg-James City County schools who received All-State honors by the Virginia High School League for their athletics and academic activities last fall.

Seven student-athletes from Lafayette High School were named to All-State teams: six for athletics and one for academics.

Christine Strong was named All-State in drama for her role as “Anna” in the one act play ‘Night Sky.’

Brianna Gibson and Sarah Bryant were both named to the All-State competition cheer team and Brenner Beard was named to the All-State boys cross country team.

Three seniors on the Rams’ football team made All-State. Trey Canady was a first-team linebacker, Mike Rodgers was a first-team defensive back and lineman Elijah Washington, who played on both sides, also was a first-team selection.

Warhill High had seven student-athletes who were honored.

Abby Sabo was named to the All-State cheerleading squad

Two members of the Lions’ volleyball team were recognized: senior Chloe Wilmoth was named to the first team and junior Hailey Hopkins was named to the second team.

In field hockey, senior defender Kelli Mullen and junior midfielder Chloe Thompson were first-team selections and junior forward Susannah Armstrong was named to the second team.

Senior punter Fletcher Whalen was a second-team pick for the Lions.

Representing Jamestown were golfers Bobby Dudeck, Mason Eggleston and Jack DeVore and Will Plante was named to the all-state boys cross country squad.
