William and Mary earns spot in CAA baseball tourney, will face Northeastern

William and Mary baseball slipped into the CAA Baseball Championship as the sixth seed and starts tourney play on Wednesday in Charleston, S.C. against No. 3 Northeastern.

The winner gets No. 2 UNC Wilmington (36-16, 18-6) on Thursday in the six-team double-elimination tournament.

W&M finished the regular season 22-28 overall and 10-14 in league play.

The Tribe closed out its regular season on Friday with a loss at Atlantic 10 opponent George Washington but won the series, 2-1.

No. 4 Elon (24-27, 13-11) faces No. 5 Delaware (23-22, 11-13) on Wednesday followed by the Tribe's game against Northeastern (24-28, 14-10).

The losers of the first two games will meet in an elimination contest Wednesday evening.

On Thursday, top-seeded College of Charleston (41-11, 21-3) meets the Elon/Delaware winner.

The final is set for Saturday afternoon.
