Property tax

The James City County Board of Supervisors made a wise decision to take the proposed 2-cent real estate tax cut off the table. The pending sales tax increase of 1 percent is regressive and harms low-income citizens more than homeowners. Using part of the revenue to decrease the property tax would only compound the injury, making the least well off support those who are fortunate enough to own property.
