National Blood Donor Month comes as Red Cross seeks donations for urgent needs

January is National Blood Donor Month, and it’s also one of the most difficult times of the year for the Red Cross to supply enough blood and platelets to patients, according to a Red Cross news release. Holiday schedules, snow, storms and sickness can keep donors home.

Eligible donors are encouraged to give frequently to save lives, the release said. Several blood drives have been scheduled in Greater Williamsburg.
