Avalon Center reports uptick in calls during Kavanaugh confirmation

During the confirmation process for federal judge Brett Kavanaugh, the Avalon Center in James City County has received more phone calls from victims of sexual assault than usual.

Since the initial allegations of sexual assault came out against Kavanaugh on Sept. 14, residents from Williamsburg to Charles City County to the Middle Peninsula have called the Avalon Center in an attempt to cope with their own trauma, according to center spokeswoman Priscilla Caldwell.
