HRP's young artists performances show off skill and feeling

Recently, I received an invitation from Williamsburg resident and executive director of the Hampton Roads Philharmonic to attend a program. The gentleman indicated that the HRP wasn’t the Virginia Symphony, but felt it had a place and purpose in the community. In fact, I had heard some nice things about the group and, on checking its website, listened to a sampling of some pretty well-done pieces.

So, I took in its Sunday performance in the intimate The American Theatre, located in what locals call “beautiful downtown Phoebus.” The occasion featured its third annual young artist competition winner and runner-up.
