Tim Kaine topped Republican Corey Stewart and Libertarian Matt Waters for a second term in the United States Senate, according to the Associated Press.
In Williamsburg, voters overwhelmingly voted for Kaine while the margins were slimmer in James City County, which voted for Kaine. York went for Stewart by a 5 percentage point margin — roughly 1,500 votes.
With nearly 85 percent of precincts reporting statewide, Kaine leads Stewart by nearly 290,000 votes at 1.35 million to Stewart’s 1.06 million, according to unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections.
