The William and Mary baseball team's wild postseason ride concluded Sunday with an 8-4 loss to East Carolina, sending the Pirates into the Super Regionals.
Fourth-seeded William and Mary set up the evening matchup in the Charlottesville Regional with third-seeded ECU by eliminating reigning national champion-Virginia earlier Sunday. The Tribe would have had to knock off the Pirates twice to advance.
ECU benefitted from a pair of two-run home runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-4 lead.
The Tribe finished the season 31-31 after winning the CAA tourney to clinch a spot in the NCAA tourney for the second time in four years.
