Historic Yorktown will host a weekend to explore the lives of 17th and 18th-century pirates.
In the 12th annual event, visitors can witness a buccaneer trial, attend buccaneer school, visit a buccaneer encampment, hear legends and hunt for treasure.
“Living here, we hear the stories of pirates who came around these areas and sailed these waters,” said Gail Whittaker, York County public information officer. “It’s always been something that’s seen as interesting and intriguing. Pirates are fascinating to people.”
