For James City residents who need to repair damages caused by Tropical Storm Michael, there’s a least one bright spot — building permit fees will be waived to repair damages caused by the storm.
Last month Tropical Storm Michael hit the region after making its landfall in Florida. The storm caused at least one tornado to touch down in James City, according to National Weather Service officials.
County officials estimated that the storm caused more than $1.6 million in damages to 32 buildings, James City Planning Director Paul Holt wrote in a memo to the Board of Supervisors Tuesday.
