New Kent County kicked off the holiday season Sunday with its 5th annual Grand Illumination. Residents and guests gathered for the illumination of the courthouse area, the Jingle Bell Jog, food vendors and a Christmas craft exhibit.
The event also included Christmas carols, pictures with Santa Claus, hot holiday drinks, pony rides, live music and more. Parks and Recreation director Kimberly Turner said about 1,000 people attended the holiday event.
“The event was a great representation of the New Kent community,” Turner said. “From the talented vendors to tasty food and cheerful entertainment to community volunteers – it was an awesome and fun event for everybody.”
