Barhamsville man charged in hit-and-run death of Yorktown cyclist

A Barhamsville man was charged in connection with a fatal Yorktown hit and run, according to York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

Alexander Michael Crosby, 25, of Barhamsville was arrested on Friday night. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident. Crosby was taken to Henrico County Jail East, according to police.

The accident occurred on Oct. 25, killing Brian L. Utne, 50, of Yorktown, who was riding his bike near Yorkville Road and Lakeside Drive.

Utne was struck by a gray Ford pickup truck and taken to Riverside Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries, according to police.

Utne was an active member of the bicycling community around the area, fellow cyclists rode in a memorial ride in his honor on Nov. 3.
