Police: Suspects in stolen vehicle lead officers in pursuit

A stolen vehicle led police in a pursuit that ended when the vehicle ran off the side of the road in King William.

A King William Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed a vehicle leave the roadway and crash at around 11:45 p.m. Dec. 6 on Mill Road. The vehicle left the scene of the accident and the deputy followed the vehicle until it pulled into a business’ driveway, according to a King William Sheriff’s Office news release released Monday morning.

The vehicle accelerated back onto the roadway once the driver saw the deputy. The vehicle led police on a chase that started on Route 360 in Aylett and ended at Route 605 in Manquin. The vehicle failed to make a turn and came to a stop after it hit a culvert. Two suspects fled and another suspect was taken into custody, the release states.

An investigation found the vehicle was stolen from an Aylett residence. The suspect taken into custody was a 16-year-old juvenile, who was released into a parent’s custody. Police think the other suspects are also juveniles and charges are pending at this time, the release states.
